Your Right to Dispute

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. § 1681i, you have the right to dispute any information in your consumer report that you believe is inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable. This right is free — there is no cost to you to file a dispute.

Frontier Background Checks LLC is required by law to investigate your dispute within 30 days of receipt (or 45 days if you provide additional relevant information during the investigation period). We take this obligation seriously and are committed to resolving disputes fairly and promptly.

What You Can Dispute
Criminal records that were dismissed, expunged, or do not belong to you · Employment or education history that is incorrect · Personal information such as name, address, or date of birth · Driving records that are inaccurate · Any other information you believe is wrong or belongs to someone else

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a cost to file a dispute?
No. Disputing information in your background check report is always completely free under the FCRA. You will never be charged to file a dispute or request a reinvestigation.
What happens if the disputed information is found to be accurate?
If our investigation confirms the information is accurate, it will remain in your report. However, you have the right to add a written statement of up to 100 words to your file explaining your dispute. This statement will be included in future reports containing the disputed information.
Can I dispute information if I’ve already been denied a job?
Yes. You can dispute information at any time. If an employer took adverse action based on your report, they were required to provide you a copy of the report first. You have the right to dispute any information in that report regardless of whether an adverse action has already been taken.
How long does the investigation take?
We are required by the FCRA to complete our investigation within 30 days of receiving your dispute. In most cases we aim to resolve disputes within 10–15 business days. If you provide additional relevant information during the investigation, the period may be extended to 45 days.
What if I disagree with the outcome of the investigation?
If you disagree with our findings, you may: (1) add a statement of dispute of up to 100 words to your file; (2) file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) at consumerfinance.gov; or (3) consult with an attorney about your rights under the FCRA, which provides for legal action in cases of willful or negligent noncompliance.
Will the employer be notified that I filed a dispute?
If information in your report is corrected or deleted as a result of your dispute, and the employer received that report in the past two years, we are required by the FCRA to send them a corrected version of your report at your request.
