Our Dispute Process
If you believe information in your background check report is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right under the FCRA to dispute it. Here is exactly how our process works — step by step.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. § 1681i, you have the right to dispute any information in your consumer report that you believe is inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable. This right is free — there is no cost to you to file a dispute.
Frontier Background Checks LLC is required by law to investigate your dispute within 30 days of receipt (or 45 days if you provide additional relevant information during the investigation period). We take this obligation seriously and are committed to resolving disputes fairly and promptly.
Providing supporting documentation significantly strengthens your dispute and helps us resolve it faster. Examples of helpful documents include:
- Criminal records: Court dismissal orders, expungement orders, not-guilty verdicts, or records showing the case belongs to another person
- Employment history: Official employment verification letters, pay stubs, W-2 forms, or termination letters with correct dates
- Education: Official transcripts, diplomas, or letters from the institution confirming your record
- Credit information: Payment receipts, account statements, or letters from creditors confirming resolution
- Driving record: Official DMV records or court documents showing dismissal or correction
- Identity issues: Documents confirming your correct name, date of birth, or address
Accepted file formats: PDF, JPG, PNG, DOC, DOCX. Maximum file size: 10MB per file.
